Today, we had our unofficial family Christmas do, “Come to The Stag”, said mum, “You’d love it there, and Llangeryw is really pretty!”. “Fair enough” I thought, with the prospect of a free roast dinner (”Try the beef, it’s gorgeous” said my mate last night) on the cards, I packed up the camera, and went to take some photos of the glorious Welsh countryside. Here they are, with humourous comments.

This pretty much is Llangernyw, a pub, a bus stop, a corner shop and a church

Llangeryw Bus Stop, which is made out of slate, which I think looks quite pretty.

This is apparently the oldest living thing in Wales, a Yew tree that’s over 4000 years old…

Yes, the Yew tree is sponsored by Esso. I didn’t understand it, and probably never will…..
More photos are available on my Flickr Set.
All in all, it was a good day out - the meal was nice, and the beer was free flowing, and I didn’t pay a penny for it! One thing that did amuse me was in The Stag (recommend anybody goes there, the food is so nice, and cheap too!) was these old, husky Welsh types were discussing Wrestlemania! Llangernyw seems a world away from the WWE.
Right, I’m missing the football (Yay to Liverpool yesterday!), so I’ll let you browse my photography at your leisure. I can’t say too much, but tomorrows entry will be a little bit special, you’ll have to wait for it for tomorrow though!

where are the humourous comments?!
How much gorgeousness can one place have? Those were amazing pictures. It’s real interesting how most of the pictures look monochromatic, even though it’s in full colour.
Amazing. (My fave is Moody Sky. Can I steal it to use as wallpaper on my lappie?)
And will you please help your readers with a guide to pronoucing Welsh names. Cos my response to the signs was, “Can I buy a vowel?”
lol
nAL: Of course you can! I’d appreciate it. I may upload a section of pictures for wallpaper usage
About the guide, I’ll see what I can do
Beautiful! I wouldn’t mind framing some of these (including your steep arse-tracked woods).
And this Yank, believe it or not, CAN pronounce most of that sign. Comes of growing up with “The Wiley Welshman” as my father was dubbed in a magazine once.
Hello Rhys—-you Welshman, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that perhaps they were just mouse slips, not poor Welsh spelling. LLANGERNYW as mentioned five times. Spelling Correct twice. Faulty three times. But, then again, Colwyn Bay Welsh is a bit different!!!! Perhaps my blog should be entitled Amiapickybugger, not Amiabankrobber. Mike
Oh dear Mr RhysWynne. Now I’ve looked at your photos and I find Llangernyw mentioned three more times, spelt incorrectly twice. So total–8 wrong 5. Back to Y Creddyn (the Bay’s welsh medium secondary school, lets hope I’ve spelt it correct) Mike
We looked at some houses around there - very pretty!
Sayre: Again, go right ahead, uncle who runs a welsh photo business probably wouldn’t be best pleased, bt meh
Mike: I’m sure there was an “u” in Creuddyn
Ally: It’s my first time there, it is very pretty. Cracking pub with a cracking roast menu!
[...] I kinda trimmed it to stop you from scrolling forever, but you get the drift. It’s not pretty, is it? Not only are they using my blog to get money, but they are demanding that I change my blog content to give them even more money, using the guise that my blog is hate filled (eagle eyed readers can see that the post on their site is the one about Llangernyw, hardly “hate filled”). I suppose that’s akin to being robbed by somebody, then being told that you don’t earn enough, get another job, so they can rob you again. Usually these spammers keep to themselves, hoping you wouldn’t notice. This spammer made a fatal mistake, telling me. [...]
