Sunday Speedlinking for 22/07/07

Happy Sunday everybody! Here’s today’s Speedlinks.

  • steem2.jpgKyle posted a while ago about Deja Vu, an online browser emulator, specifically for the older browsers. It’s quite cool to see how browsers that cannot handle CSS appear. Kyle’s post inspired me to check out what my blog looked like on the first computer I ever went online with, the Atari ST. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go on the internet directly with the emulator, but I took an offline snapshot of the main page of this blog. The results were interesting. First there was garbledom as it imports the CSS into the page, and the other problem was that the images didn’t display. Other than that though it displayed the text almost as it should (a few special characters were missing), so if you’re viewing this site on an Atari ST. Welcome! For those who are not, but want to find out more on this fabulous machine, follow this domain name hack http://atari.st/
  • A story on the BBC made me chuckle, it featured a Homer Simpson next to the Cerne Abbas. Was quite amusing hearing people be up in arms over it, saying that the giant Homer was offensive. And a guy with a 20ft knob isn’t.
  • Following the post last week about domain names. Jem got in touch to tell me that she was interested in the jem.ma domain name, which she couldn’t get. I suggested going for jemjabel.la, the official domain name of Laos, Los Angeles and Liverpool. Why Liverpool? Well – according to Wikipedia – they end their sentances with “la”.
  • Regular readers who are like me, addicted to Civilization (and I know of at least 4) may be interested to read “The History of Civilization” on Gamasutra. It’s a bit long, but worth every word.
  • A post on Rachelish’s blog made me laugh out loud, and I’m surprised nobody’s done this before. What if Bloggers Took Over The World? maybe people have done this before, although never this creatively. What do you think would happen?

Thanks for all the people who have submitted links, if you’d like to be featured in next weeks links, please email me!

Great list! Homer and the penis dude totally cracked me up–and the people’s reactions cracked me up even more. Bloggers taking over the world was a hilarious post–thanks for the link.

Thank you so much for the link (again!) I’ve updated the post to add linkbacks to everybody who’s contributed in comments, of course, including you!
