What Would Be Your Bank Holiday?

A small little update for all the people who are – unlike me – working and not drinking and spending the day outside. Ha ha!

Basically, one thing I always notice on these holidays is the age old question – why don’t we have more? As Brits, we have the least Bank Holidays in the year. But you cannot have a day off for shits and giggles, oh no. You need an excuse to get pissed on a Sunday.

The latest think tank report suggests there should be one in November to celebrate ‘Heroes’. This is the last Bank Holiday between now and Christmas, almost unique in Europe.

What would you have a day off for? When will it be? I think I’d like “Back To School” Friday, the first Friday after the schools go back, for everybody not working in schools and the like. That way we can go to Alton Towers in decent weather and not get hassled by Chavvy Families.

Yourself?

I second the school one, only I want one every time the schools go back!

Judging by the fact I’m the first to comment at 1 oclock, I’m a loser and have nothing else to do!

I also agree with your back to school one — my cousin’s convinced the day BEFORE all the kids go back to school would be a brilliant day to go to Alton Towers for her birthday celebrations… *smashes head through window*

Hey, you got a link near the top of ProBlogger today! Congratulations!

Here in NZ we call them public holidays. I’d like a LOLcats Day.

I reckon we should celebrate Tuesdays. It’s such a good day (unless you frequent drugs… then Tuesday is usually your come down day… and therefore the worst day). But Tuesday’s you aren’t quite as tired as Monday from the weekend. Yet, you’re not sick of the week yet, because it’s only just getting started. What a great day!

    I like Tuesdays.

  5. Without a doubt, it would be an extra Monday off. Doesn’t matter where, I just hate that Monday feeling, and having an extra day at the end of your weekend would feel more of a victory than a day at the start of your weekend. At least to me. But now I’m rambling.

That’s another joy of living in Scotland, not only doe we get a few more holidays, the schools are out at a different time – It was great coming down to England in mid-July with our kids, while everyone elses’ were in School.

    weather was still crap though….

I hate your holiday idea. Teachers need to tie one on even more often than other people because we have to deal with your kids! I think that a holiday celebrating tree-climbing dogs would be fun. Or how about one celebrating the invention of the vacuum cleaner? I miss Mexico, they have no problem thinking them up down there. You even have your own special Saint’s Day…nice.
