So, this coming Sunday, I will run 3 miles for Sport Relief. Towards the latter end of last week, I picked up a rather nasty groin strain. A quick kiss better from some bar pickup on Saturday night made it feel a lot better and looser this week, so I am on a strict (well, strict-ish) “No Alcohol” policy, and trying to cram a few more sessions into the run on Sunday.

I’ll be honest. I’m well aware the chances of me running the three miles are slim at best. However, if I run a mile and walk the rest (something I should be more than capable of doing), I will be very very happy.

As such, I’m trying to get just a little bit fitter, and running a little bit more there and then. Trouble is I find it boring, and need music. To run.

So, here at the moment is my running playlist. I say list, there’s really only two songs on it.

Bonnie Tyler - Holding out for a Hero
Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger

And that’s it.

I need some sort of “running” tunes. Tunes that are designed to be balls out adventure, man against nature, competition, and all sorts of wonderous things like that. Any suggestions?

Eminem’s - Lose yourself
Three Doors Down - Kryptonite
Vangelis - Chariots of Fire
Limp Bizkit - Rollin’
Queen - Don’t stop me now/ Another one bites the dust.
Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild.
Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone.
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills.
Daft Punk - Harder, better, faster, stronger.
Prodigy - Firestarter

Those helped on the handful of times I tried to run anywhere so they might in useful :p

At The Drive In - Give It A Name
Maybe a bit of Madness? The ska rhythm may throw you out of time, and you’ll start running backwards, I’ve always found that ska isn’t good running music…

Jake The Peg by Rofl Harris?

Dude… you should be able to run the whole 3 miles no really problem!! just take it slow!

as for things to run to:

Muse… most of them
Incubus… most of them
Rage against the machine/Audioslave…. most of them
Some placebo….
I quite like things like scooter or euphoric dance music… stuff with a good beat helps you!

good luck thou!

Oi for that last part of your run where you want to push yourself, cover some ground and make an awesome vomit inducing final sprint -

Supermoves - Overseer (Snatch Soundtrack)

Whenever I hear it I just visualise dudes in suits with guns sprinting flat out along a cobblestone road chasing each other.
The middle part where it slows down is when the guy being chased is hiding for a moment, until he looks back around the corner he’s hiding behind and sees them and has to start running again. Ha! I should make filmclips.

Funny, I used to run to music and prefer not to now. But I used to listen to a lot of Metallica (Master of Puppets), Muse, Pixies and Led Zeppelin.

Mr Brightside by The Killers is a good running tune, too.

Good luck with your run!
