I’ve booked my latest getaway. It’s outside of Europe, and I cannot wait.
Yes, I’m going to be a part of it, New York, New York!
My mum bought me a guide book for my 24th, and I’ve been unable to keep my head out of it, it just seems like such a fascinating city. I’ve basically planned a large proportion of my holiday already (jet lag notwithstanding), I bought tickets to see the Mets (I had to pay $5 extra if I wanted to buy alcohol during the game, what’s up with that?), so I need a crash course in Baseball. My knowledge of Baseball is limited to Baseball Stars for the Neo-Geo, and the Baseball game on Wii Sports.
Furthermore, I’m planning on having a New York style Brunch at some point the weekend I’m there, and I want to do as much sightseeing as possible, as well as seeing a lot.
Now, two things I ask you:
- Guestposters - Yes! I’ll be going for 8 days, so I’ll need a number of guestposters to provide for this blog. Same rules apply as always (you get adsense earnings on any of your posts, plus I’ll sort something else out
). And you can blog about anything – a tip, quip or story. Bush – can I use your post for this batch? - Meetups - A little bit of my holiday may be decided by you. Yes if there are any of my readers in North East America (or can get there for a couple of days), then I’d love to meet you and go for a few drinks. Don’t worry, I’m lovely, just ask Han and Celeste, who have had the pleasure of meeting me in the past.
If you can provide any of those things, that will be great. If you can’t but offer me advice on anything (I’m particularly after advice on long-haul flying), please let me know!
EDIT: Sorry, forgot to say, I will be in New York from 28th May 2008 to 6th June 2008. Cheers bro!

I’ll meet you there, I’m going next week…
You probably should have put the dates you are going to be there in your post…
Hehehe – classic
mm long haul flying! I did my first one at about 5months! UK, I had loads of leg room then and I’ve had it ever since! Even in cattle!
Just dont get the middle seat
You’ll fall asleep on some stranger! And be weary of the children, I ended up reading stories to some obnoxious american child from miami to madrid. grrr. I’d not slept/showered in 3 days I just wanted to sleep!
Wow nice!
Did your ads pay for this?! Dammit I need ads if it gets me to NY
If I’m not too boring, I’ll write a blog on your behalf.
I could write a blog entirely written in iambic pentameters or something.
I’m immensely jelous of you going to NYC, I wanna go!!
Long haul flight? Are you travelling East to get there?
[I used to think UK to USA was long haul until I moved to Australia - now long haul has to be over 10 hours at least]
Key for me though is – aisle seat [nothing to see out of the windows most of the time and long haul = several toilet stops].
Smile at the check in chick – they have the ultimate power to upgrade.
Don’t press the button for the flight attendant – catch them when they are coming past.
Just my few thoughts.
What?! How can you afford traveling so much? :O
Hehe but I hope you will have a great trip anyway. I want to go there as well!
I HATE long-haul. Drink plenty of water and set your watch to the right time for your destination when you first get on the plane – I find it messes my body clock up less that way.
Also, B says, you might enjoy the bar in the financial district where all the bras are pinned up behind the bar. He’s trying to remember the name
. And, the Chinese Ice Cream Factory.
Try this:
Jeremy’s Ale House
228 Front St
New York, NY 10038-2004
Phone: (212) 964-3537
Beer great, food great, bras great

It’s because you’re short
Ummm…basically it did contribute a large proportion. Not just on this blog but my other webloits
Will do!
# Living at home
# Having 4-5 moderately successful websites
# Not going out getting smashed 4-5 nights a week, which judging on what a bunch of my peers do, is quite a normal thing to do in the UK.
# Having a fairly decent job in a cheap area
# No car (though I am starting to pay insurance/petrol on my mums, we don’t need one each)
# Spend very little on clothes/dvd’s/games/music
Basically travelling is the main focus of my life, and as such everything else takes a sacrifice for it (for now anyway).
One problem, I don’t wear a watch!
Well, just start THINKING in American time, then
Ooh new york! i’m so jealous!
Are you doing a day trip to Niagara Falls? That’s an amazing day if you can spare one day to do it. Well recommended.
My tips would be to plan where you are going to eat coz all me and Chris could find restaurant wise at night-time was posh pricey places or fast food. So work that guide book.
Take very comfy shoes – walking 10 blocks one way and 5 another seems like a really easy thing ’til you get blisters. (the subway is a no-no) And watch for the blue men to say cross the road up ahead – saves you hours.
Ignore the stats at the Empire State Building – it said 5 mile visability when we went up and we could see for miles and miles (ooh and pay extra for the “Italian” talking guide up there – lil headphone machine – bad accent but interesting)
The red tour buses are quite cool and they give you a waterproof poncho if it rains : ) hehe
Last but not least – make sure ur suitcases go on the plane! They left ours in New York for about 3 days.
Hope u have a fab time!
New York is an amazing place! I spent 2 weeks there a few years ago. You are going to enjoy yourself. I’d love to join you, but it is on the other side of the country from where I am.
I can help you out with the guest posting. Sounds like fun.
Long haul flying is easy… especially if you go with the airlines that give you free beer!
have at least 2 beers in the airport whilst you wait… get on the plane and enjoy another with food… one more then sleep! 6 hours is a nice easy flight – eat… movie.. sleep… wake up and your there!!
careful of hostels in NYC – heard some quality stories and some interesting ones… one guy was in a dorm with some questionnable fellow who apparently chanted for long periods of the night “death to the infedels… may allah be with you as he is me!”
not to worry you or anything
Well that is some really advanced booking of your holiday. Wish you all the best and have a blast………
I would like to do a guest post for your blog.
