A Few Questions I Want Answering

This is going to be a cheap and easy way to write a post, as I’m a bit delicate today. I’ve got a bunch of questions that need answering.

A bunch of my favourite blogs are known as “(title unknown)” in google reader, can I give them a custom name?

How can I view all unread mail in Google Mail?

What are those wierd square characters you see in Firefox all about?

Any tips on building a Forum

Where is Zealand?

Why is it when you predict something it’s known as “telegraphing”?

What is the best way to wash shin pads?

Would you be up for a Mario Kart Wii tournament online? Organised through something like Retro Garden?

I can’t lie, it’s been tough blogging this week. Hope you haven’t missed my awesomeness too much this week. Hopefully I will improve with the weekend. See you monday!

    Poor Rhys…

Yarp. Top right, click Feed Settings, and Rename.

How can I view all unread mail in Google Mail?
In the seach box, type “Label:Unread” And Robert is your mothers brother

What are those wierd square characters you see in Firefox all about?
Ummm… I don’t see any – maybe image placeholders? Or some sort of image border?

Any tips on building a Forum
Narp – Invision Power Board for sheer, utter laziness!

    Where is Zealand?
Zealand is in Holland – did you go to school ;)

Why is it when you predict something it’s known as “telegraphing”?
heh never heard of it – maybe I didn’t go to school either!

What is the best way to wash shin pads?
Chuck them in the washing machine, low spin, low heat. At least, that’s what all the boys mums do at football practice

Would you be up for a Mario Kart Wii tournament online? Organised through something like Retro Garden?
If I can get a Wii, then maybe ;)

    1. Telegraphing – sorry Rhys, you’ve got it the wrong way around! It’s not a case of being able to predict, it’s a case of being easily predicted by your opponent.

Telegraphing is, in a nutshell, giving away your intentions with an easily-read physical cue. For example, I was no good at rugby in school because I always seemed to rotate my shoulders through about 25 degress before playing a pass… intercepted nearly every time :(

A good example of how to avoid telegraphing is to watch a good seam bowler in cricket; they tend to use their non-bowling hand to cover the ball until the last possible moment. This covers both the seam and to an extent the fingers on the bowling hand, making the delivery much harder to read.

    2. Mario Kart - yes, once my exams are out of the way ;)

Think Dan’s answered the rest ;)

  3. HB says:

ah, the things in Firefox – non-ASCII characters. I just clicked the image you posted and spotted it; they’re the hexadecimal representations of characters (e.g. Japanese symbols) that your current charset is unable to render.

    I think.

I thought predicting something was called telepathy? No wait that’s when you are thinking about each other at the same time…

  5. Sara says:

Well, it looks like you got your answers. Good, cause I don’t have any :P . Have a fun weekend! I’m going to the family summer house =). xxoo

  6. Rick says:

Due to shitty hostel computers, I can’t see the above posts, but I know Zealand is an island which help makes up Denmark, as I have been there (Copenhagen is on Zealand). :-)

Boston is better than you said it would be, thanks for asking

  7. Grace says:

In Google Reader, click on the feed, go to “Feed Settings”, and you’ll get an option about renaming the feed. As for forums, contests tend to be nice, such as a “most posts” contest, a referral contest, etc. Good luck! :)

  8. Manuel says:

Yeah, I have no answers for you. By shin pads, do you mean shin guards for football(soccer)? I just always threw mine in the washing machine to get out the funk.

  9. Debbie says:

    What dan said :P

I also used to wash shin pads in the washing machine on a cool quick wash. Always worked ok for me thus far :)
