Hello! It’s been a bit insane recently with a few personal family issues I’ve had to take care of. Nevertheless, I’m back and better than ever.
It is also with great delight I share with you my recession busting plans for my holiday 2009. I’m only going on one, but what a holiday.
Yes, two weeks away, 3 days in Bangkok in Thailand, the rest of the time in Tokyo!
The reasons (other than I’m smitten for the culture of Japan) is because that one of my good friends (Vicky, if you’re keeping score) is out there at the moment, and has been for a couple of years. There was talks of her leaving Japan later this year, so if I am to go to Japan on the (relative) cheap, I’d have had to have gone this year.
Plus she convinced me that I’d be great in Japan. “The women’d love you out there!” she said “I’m sure you’d find one.”.
Not that I’m reduced to going across 9 time zones to find a missus, you understand (though it has been a long time since I got anything more than a hug). But it did play on my mind, so fuck it (not literally), I’m off there!
Thailand is odd as it’s basically a stopover, to say that I’ve been. I’m planning a frame of currency from the countries I’ve been to (most expensive part so far – 5 Lats, which is around £6), so it can be a cheap and easy way to at Thailand to the mix!
Anyway, that’s my rather exciting travel plans. What about yours? Are you going anywhere?

Bangkok is not bad, I kno mr hawkey was not a fan! Just make sure you have a night down the koh san road! And drink buckets! they are revolutionary! i would heavily suggest avoiding women or anything that looks female in Thailand… i heard many stories (including one guy ended up bumming a pre-op tranny! – his reasoning was he’d already paid!!) and they look very feminine!!
Japan sounds cool, very jealous ur gonna beat me there!
My holidays this year are all festival based! Oh and a week in italy for sisters wedding…
I am going back to Plymouth as SOON as I can afford the petrol money.

As a Singaporean, I am of course devastated that you are stopping over in Thailand and not my fair shores. Hmmpph!
But as a traveller who knows how to get the most bang(kok) for her buck, then Thailand is so much more fun! And cheap! And less…. sterile!
So have fun, stay away from the STDs and do not eat anything cooked next to an open sewer.
