Failed again. 5 majors, 14 minors.
It sounds bad, but hear me out.
4 of the majors were on a road in Rhyl with 4 mini roundabouts. I indicated to come off each of the 4 mini roundabouts. I get marked down for them. Now, I’m not saying I should have passed, but people I seem to speak to have different ideas on what do do. Should you indicate or should you not? Also, I was under the impression that if you get one major, you can’t major again in the same problem!
The second major (by my watch) again wasn’t my fault. I went straight over a duel carriageway roundabout (by straight over I mean round it safely, just not straight over it). However, I ended up in the right lane. I kept to the speed limit, when I got a guy flashing and honking behind me. I failed then for holding up traffic. How can I hold up traffic if a guy is speeding?
All in all, a bit miffed. What makes it even worse is that the driving instructor asked me to pull off when he didn’t have his seat belt on. He also recommended that I change my mirrors whilst sitting in traffic lights, something that I was told was wrong! In the end, I felt I wasn’t necessarily a fair test, and he had it in for me.
Oh well, onwards and upwards. Test #3 is on the 10th March, at a 11:41, a better time than mine today.
In other news, look what plonked through the post this morning:-

I guess you can say you win on the swings, what you lose on the roundabouts.
Have a good weekend guys and gals!

You were done! Seriously, I’m still of the opinion that you indicate on mini roundabouts. I mean, they’re still roundabouts. People need to know where you’re going.
Definitely agree with Melissa, not saying I always fo indicate off them, but it makes sense to if there’s any ambiguity for other drivers as to your intended exit road surely. Annoying about the speeding driver too – can’t believe that one, only normal everyday thing you could do it indicate in, and let the guy past, but its not something you’d do in a town and especially not in a driving test!
That’s fucking bullshit.
In Australia it’s the same, you’re supposed to indicate to turn off large roundabouts, and just drive through smaller ones, only indicating if you’re turning, but not indicate to turn off.
However, the fact of the matter is, how do you exactly know which roundabouts are considered ‘large’, and which are considered ‘small’. Fortunately, because of this uncertainty, it’s not something they police. In terms of the instructor… you got screwed. Not in the happy way.
Next time bro, next time.
BTW – Download the Halo Wars demo. Not sure if you’re a fan of RTS, but this would be the first RTS that works on a console. It’s awesome!
That is crap, you should seriously consider a complaint! I can’t believe he told you to adjust your mirrors during the test.
How was street fighter?
Ahh, that’s to bad! It sounds like the instructor had a bad day. Not fair at all! You will make it next time, I know it! =)
I always indicate off mini roundabouts, I had no idea hat was wrong.
You need to do your test at a good time, if they’ve hit their quota of passes for the month then you’re screwed.
Third time’s the charm
Suggest you send the examiner a copy of this link to the highway code
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070338
Can you not complain to someone? At least get a free re-test or something? I mean, I don’t drive but that sounds well dodgy to me.
The guy sounds like a total ‘muncher. I’m seriously pissed off for you matey…
I remember one of friends in 6th form complaining after she failed for something similarly crap (but nowhere near as shabby as the treatment you got), and got her retest for free – so it’s worth considering if you can do it after the event.
I’d say something like “unlucky”, but it sounds like the examiner being a prick had more to do with it than bad luck
Approaching the roundabouts you should indicate but you don’t need to indicate on the exits off a mini roundabout.
You’re examiner sounds like a bogey one. Not putting on his seatbelt? Maybe that was a small test, albeit sniddy. I got majored for going too slow around around a roundabout also. It is 30 – which I was going but a car far behind was speeding at 60MPH. That still boggles the mind to this day. Just for clarification I was also taught that it is wrong to modify mirror when driving, all that should be done before set-off.
Cheer up because you will pass next time. Just let the examiner know if you think/know he/she is doing or telling something, which is wrong.
I play Street Fighter when i was Elementary School and it’s Nintento, isn’t XBOX.

Damn Rhys, you must suck at driving.
Naa i remember by first test, failed due to “Dangerous Driving”. Wasn’t anything dangerous about it.. beyond me trying to force another car off the road, on a roundabout too!
Good luck next time, just remember to give his leg a squeeze before setting of next time. Anything for a pass eh?
