One of the highlights of North Wales if you ever visit is Conwy. A UNESCO world heritage site, Conwy is a walled town with a huge castle, and it’s pretty, if a little tourist trap.
However, head up out of Conwy, behind the train station, and keep climbing, and you’ll hit a little hidden local gem called the Sychnant Pass.
The Sychnant Pass is a road that connects Conwy to Penmaenmawr through Dwygyfylchi, and was originally used as the main coach road for mail coaches when the quicker and safer route along the coastline was unavailable. Today, all traffic goes along the A55, the expressway you can see in a few of these photos, but the road remains open particularly for tourists & people who know about the pass, as it’s one of the most beautiful places in North Wales in my opinion, looking out over the Anglesey straight and down to Penmaenbach & Penmaenmawr.
Anyway, I headed up there with my mum for an afternoon walk, and it was so beautiful & peaceful up there. Here are some photos from our trip.
