I watched a MSNBC docudrama about a chat room / hidden identities on the net that led to chaos and murder... my point? Yes, I've got one. Like you I share cyberspace / blogosphere (is that still a word?) regularly with a same 'crowd' of fellow bloggers who I've come to regard friendly. Spoken to one, a team blog captain (as it were)... I think you are correct in saying that openly just being who you genuinely are (in your own mind - objectively as you may) is the right foot forward. I don't believe that's a bad thing though... because it brings back the sense of culpability. When you more out in the open and people can see who you are, you're much more willing to take responsibility for your actions and words. I'd much rather have a world like that because it promotes quality thought over causing mayhem, fraud & ill will from the shadows. As for keeping things private... well, obviously I hide my face online.
