It’s wierd, I think I’ve found out a lot about me in the last two days.

Basically, my mum, dad and dog have been away on holiday this week, today is their last day away from home. And - I’ve achieved two things in my short time holding the house.

The first (bar a little mishap today with the grill) is that I can cope on my own. I often get called a mummy’s boy, and often I do believe it.  To the point I’m not sure if I can survive in the outside world. I not only can, but I can thrive, which is nice.

So why don’t I move out.

To be honest, it’s incredibly quiet here. I’m the eldest of 3 brothers, for as long as I can remember I remember being in the house with somebody. I remember being bored out of my skull when I did live on my own during the summer of 2004, and today it just seems to quiet. It’d be different if the dog was here, but from 5pm to when I go to bed everyday, it just feels so alone.

I guess what I’m trying to say is - to answer everybody’s question for when I’m moving out - the answer is “when I find somebody to move in with”.

On the plus side, I can play Street Fighter 2 on the HD Telly :)

Can I get a Sho-Ryu-Ken?

A little puzzle that arose on Saturday night. Names have been changed.

You arrive in a pub for last orders. You see a work colleague called Allan. Allan has minor learning difficulties, but he looks obviously upset. There’s a foul stench of alcohol amongst him, meaning that he has been drinking for quite some time.

Allan is usually quite a chirpy character, but today he’s different “I’m going to prison!”, he says over and over again, in slurred English. “I’m going down, and they’re going to kill me!”. Allan is annoyed about something.

Last orders come,  and bouncers aren’t being much help, say “Just throw him in a taxi and take him home.”. Unfortunately, nobody knows where home is, and asking “where do you live?” brings nothing out of him.

At which point, the increasingly hysterical Allan takes a turn for the worse, “They’re going to kill me! I’m going down! I’m going down!” over and over again. Then he says “I’m not going down! I’m going to kill myself first!”.

We’re running completely out of options, and it’s getting late. Would you ring an ambulence?

I’m not saying what we did, or didn’t. I want your thoughts. But I’ve only dialled 999 before now once before - when Han fainted - and I felt guilty when the guy came out.

There’s all about these stories about people ringing 999 to report a bright white light in the sky, which is fair enough, and there’s times where there’s heart attacks, strokes etc. and that’s fair enough. However, what would you have done in this situation? What is the right thing to do?

Three things I want to try and get off my chest, regarding the updates of this website.

  • The first is the comments. Previously on 24, I was all for dofollow comments, and had dofollow on my blog, and it worked. I got more comments, however I’m getting sick and tired of comments from “Timmy The Dui Lawyer”, so I switched to nofollow unless you have 10 or 15 comments. And it still continued. Now, they’re being switched off. Back to nofollow.  I will let more comments into the blog, and it will be funny seeing people called “Free Myspace Templates” (Myspace still going?)
  • Secondly, I’m selling two of my other websites. The first one is shagablogger.com. The reasons behind it are simple - I don’t have time! Nobody’s posted on it much, but still gets the odd traffic. I truly believe that if somebody gave it the love it deserved, it could sell well. The auction is listed here - http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/auctions/47390 - and there’s a link at the top of the page should you need it again.
  • Finally, Nintendo has announced it’s latest line up of games. In it, the sequel to one of the best games ever released - Super Punch Out.Punch-Out!! VariousLadies and Gentlemen - Punch Out Wii :) :)

I believe that’s all Nintendo’s major franchises up and running, but if you had to re-establish a video gaming franchise, which one would it be?

A little thought, a controversial thought, and a shot accross the bows here.

A few weeks ago, I created a new affiliate site. Contrary to what Jem said a few posts ago, affiliate income is making me a substansial amount. Not enough to quit my job and live in Nice, but enough to make it worthwhile. This site will target a niche that I’ve researched, understand and - more importantly - like.

Now, I do web design all day, and I really couldn’t be bothered designing a whole new website, so I went onto a popular webmaster forum and asked for some help. Nothing much, just a design (with logo) for a small budget.

In the end I got a response which was fairly good, and I commissioned a guy to do it. He was cheap, like barrel scraping cheap.

In the end, whilst I was actually happy with what he did, I wasn’t totally settled.

You see, he designed it in a web 2.0 stylee, and it just didn’t seem right.

The site in question was a BANS site. BANS - or Build a Niche Store - is a funky little script that can put an store on any domain using ebay listings. It’s made me a bit of money so far, and I’m planning on expanding it into one or two more “stores”.

They are affiliate sites, but what I find works with them is making them look like real shops, with added information. I spent a good weekend adding information to it. I’ve never really seen a shop that looks web 2.0.

On top of that, I did think when I opened it, I thought “damn, another web 2.0 design!”.

I do think we’re approaching the end of web 2.0 design with the reflections, pastels and gradients being the dominant force of web design. I’m not saying they’ll never be used again, but I’ve begun seeing blogs move away from then, and onto more neutral, plain colours with not overly dominant header graphics.

What do you think?

Stays on the stag do.

Sorry, certain things I can’t blog about, including what happens. Don’t worry, you’re not missing much. It’s hardly incriminating.

I will say two things though.

The first, was I really shouldn’t have drunk as much as I did on the Friday night. Worryingly, I can’t remember large parts of the evening, even more worryingly is I returned with more money than I went out with. I checked my account, and I didn’t take any out.

This rolled over to Saturday morning, which going to war, it was a little grim. Lord knows how I even eventually, 3 hours into war, I picked myself up and fought properly instead of pussying around.

Once I shook my hangover, it was really good fun, insane adrenaline rush, meaning I was constantly out of breath. Then again, I may just be unfit, and one game I was actually useful, dangerous, and took two fantastic kills.

I did end up with a few bruises, this is the best one, which is on my back.

Sexy, n’est pas.

So, despite this, and the fact that I wouldn’t trust any of my friends with a smoke bomb (and I’m sure the feeling’s mutual), I had a great weekend. How was yours?

Also, apparently over the weekend there was another update of pagerank. Any of your blog changed? Do you care?
